About who and what you follow:

Matthew 10:38 and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. (NIV)

You have heard people say "Follow your heart." You have heard people ask "Do you follow me?" when they are trying to make a point in a presentation. All of us are followers. Even those persons in authority who we deem as leaders are followers of ideas, traditions, institutions, and cultural conventions. Tragically, many people follow the wrong path in their life. Christ wants us to follow Him above all others. Christ wants us to follow His ideas, His morality, His thinking, and His love. All of us have choices about whom and about what we follow. Christ wants us to follow Him. Christ wants us to choose Him to follow because He loves us.

Our world is full of sinfulness and sinful temptations. The evil one of the world demands our attention and wants us to follow evil and sinfulness. The evil one tries to blind us and tell us who we follow does not matter. The evil one wants us to believe there are no consequences to choosing or following evil. The evil one wants us to follow him into eternal darkness. By contrast, Christ wants us to follow Him and follow His love into eternal life.
