About how money and a
spiritual life do not mix… Matthew 27:3 When Judas,
who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse
and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders. 4
"I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent
blood." "What is that to us?" they replied. "That's your
responsibility." 5 So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then
he went away and hanged himself. (NIV) Judas sold Jesus away for
thirty silver coins. There is controversy about whether Judas knew in advance
his betrayal of Jesus would lead to the death of Christ. We do know Judas knew
the consequences of what he had done after the fact. We must realize money or
material things of this world do not mix with the spiritual. We cannot be
consumed with money issues, poverty issues, profit issues, business issues,
corporate issues, or financial issues of any kind and maintain our spiritual
minds and spiritual hearts. We can come to God on our physical knees. However,
in our spirit we cannot kneel down if we have the thought of money on our minds,
the grip of money upon our heart, or money ravaging our souls. In our reality,
we all need money to live so we must all deal with money issues. We must all
prayerfully try, to the very best of our ability, to understand the corrupting
power of money, to understand money can savage our souls, and to understand how
money is not important to God. |
