A Daily Devotional About when we want to pray but are speechless Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. In a world filled with media images of clergy, we see ministers and preachers who endlessly talk. We perceive at least some clergy as being able to talk for hours about any aspect of life or any aspect about God. God, however, does not require words from us ordinary folk. Many times, in real life, we are often speechless. Many times we go to God and do not know what to say. In these times we must remember we do not have to say words or think words. In these times, God is with us, and He ministers to us if we will just reach our spirits up to Him. Prayer does not always have to be a string of words. Prayer is sometimes the cry of our heart when we are overcome with grief. Sometimes prayer is our heart singing out with joy. What we must remember about prayer is not specific words to say to God, but to make every attempt to go to where He lives inside of us. When we commune with the Spirit of Christ, we communicate with Christ in our spirit more than we could ever communicate with our words. |
