A Prayer About The Foolishness Of Greed

Most Precious Lord Jesus, Gentle And Wonderful God, Truly Awesome And Ever-present Holy Spirit,
Precious Lord Jesus, I love you.
How foolish I am to want the things of earth!
How foolish I am to want material things that rot and decay!
How foolish of me to want what I cannot own for eternity!
How foolish of me to want more of everything!
How foolish of me to work long hours and run myself into debt to possess what I can only keep for just a moment!
In my heart, I know I cannot keep forever what is in my bank account because someday I shall fly away to be with you.
In my heart, I know all the worldly possessions of which I take such pride shall slip from my grasp as I leave this earth.
In your love and grace, help me not be blind to the spiritual reality around me.
In your love and grace, help me be wise about the material things in life.
In your love and grace, help me see the spiritual treasures right before me.
In your love and grace, help me see the really true spiritual riches of my life.
All these things I humbly pray in the name of my most Blessed Lord Jesus Christ, my Mighty God, and my Ever-present Holy Spirit upon whom I can rely.
