A Prayer About Pushing Back Against
Temptation
Most Precious Lord Jesus, Gentle And Wonderful God, Truly Awesome And
Ever-present Holy Spirit,
Precious Lord Jesus, I love you.
There are times when it seems I cannot stand against the forces of
temptation.
However, I realize if I am helpless against temptation then I am helpless
only because I have given up and decided not to fight back.
I realize I am helpless against temptation only when I try to use my own
power rather than seeking your power to help me.
With just my own power I am helpless to fight against the sinister power
wanting to drive me into the ground by urging, cajoling, and drawing me
into doing what I know I should not do.
By your power and by your love for me, I affirm before you, when I combine
my will and your will, no power of temptation can overcome me.
By your power and by your love for me, I affirm before you, when my hands
and your hands push against the dark urgings of my soul then together we
will defeat the forces of failure wanting me to fall.
By your power and by your love for me, I affirm before you, I understand I
must and I shall push with all my might against the darkness lurking about
me.
All these things I humbly pray in the name of my most Blessed Lord Jesus
Christ, my Mighty God, and my Ever-present Holy Spirit upon whom I can
rely.
