A Prayer About Stopping Greed

Most Precious Lord Jesus, Gentle And Wonderful God, Truly Awesome And Ever-present Holy Spirit,
Precious Lord Jesus, I love you.
Where would I be without you, O Precious Lord Jesus?
What would I have become if you had not come into my life?
What kind of terrible effect would I have made upon the world without your being such a part of my life?
Although I know the answers to these questions, there is within me the desire for security against poverty.
In personal honesty before you, O Precious Lord, I am afraid of being poor and without any money or things.
In personal honesty before you, O Precious Lord, I have walked down the terrible road of being without money and things.
I am afraid to revisit those days.
Yes, Lord, I know all the truths about how I must put you first.
I know all the maxims about having spiritual wealth rather than physical wealth.
Yet, I am afraid to go back to those days of unending worry over what would become of me and become of my family when we have no money and no place to live.
In your love and grace, let me not be greedy for things or money.
In your love and grace, let me see the true value of only treasuring you and not treasuring the physical things and physical stuff of this world.
In your will and in your love, help me get a tiny glimpse of the day when I leave all my earthly possessions behind as you grasp my hand and escort me into your treasure house of Heaven.
All these things I humbly pray in the name of my most Blessed Lord Jesus Christ, my Mighty God, and my Ever-present Holy Spirit upon whom I can rely.
